Most astrological fragrance guides are painfully predictable, we've all likely rolled our eyes at the repetitive and highly predictable pairings: Fire signs receive spicy perfumes, water signs receive aquatic fragrance, earth signs receive patchouli, air signs receive citrus and so on.
Thank you, Captain Obvious.
As someone who spends an unreasonable amount of time thinking about fragrance, atmosphere, symbolism, and the emotional power of scent, I have always found this approach a little unimaginative - and lazy, to be frank.
Human beings are more complicated than their elements. By extension, so are fragrances.
A Scorpio does not necessarily want to smell like the ocean. A Taurus is not automatically dreaming of patchouli and damp soil. A Libra deserves better than yet another generic rose perfume recommendation.
The same applies to scented candles.
One of the most common assumptions people make when they discover Silvanité is that my fragrances must correspond neatly to their respective classical elements.
Aeris for Air. Ardor for Fire. Silva for Earth. Simple. Convenient and entirely too obvious. Of course the elements are what inspired my initial three scents, however inspiration should not limit.
The reality is that fragrance is rarely about symbols alone. It is about personality. Atmosphere. The emotional character of a scent and the kind of person who feels naturally at home within it.
So rather than assigning my fragrances according to zodiac elements, I thought it might be more interesting to assign them according to temperament.
Aeris was never intended as a literal interpretation of air. I wasn’t interested in sterile freshness, cold ozonic accords, or the sort of fragrances that smell like a freshly disinfected airport terminal.
Instead, I wanted to capture a feeling. The brightness that follows summer rain or the clarity of cool air against warm skin.
The quiet joy of taking a deep breath and realizing everything is exactly as it should be.
For that reason, I would assign Aeris to four signs:
Libra
Libra is often misunderstood as merely aesthetic. In reality, Libra understands composition. Balance. Harmony.
The subtle difference between something that is beautiful and something that is merely expensive. Aeris possesses that same restraint.
It doesn't shout or announce itself before you do, it simply makes everything around it feel a little brighter.
Gemini
Most Gemini fragrance recommendations begin and end with citrus.
This strikes me as a tremendous waste of potential.
Geminis are not simply energetic.
They are curious. Restless, almost intellectually hungry.
Aeris feels like a conversation that unexpectedly lasts until 2 a.m. because neither person wants to stop asking questions.
Sagittarius
Sagittarius belongs here because Aeris moves, possessing a sense of motion and possibility.
The fragrance equivalent of booking a flight before you’ve entirely figured out the details.
Optimistic. Curious. Unburdened.
Pisces
This may be my most controversial choice.
Most astrology blogs would immediately assign Pisces something aquatic or lactonic.
I disagree: Every Pisces in my life seems to collect atmosphere rather than objects. Memories. Moments. Feelings. Aeris feels like that to me.
Not water, but wonder - oddly enough reminding me of the Liquid Luck in Harry Potter!

Ardor is perhaps the easiest fragrance to misunderstand. People assume it is simply about fire, heat, intensity, seduction.
And while all of those things are certainly present, Ardor is ultimately about conviction.
It is for people who feel deeply. People who care intensely.
People who would rather be disliked and remembered than be forgettable - it's the most polarizing fragrance of the Silvanité Atelier and that is very much by design, as I had very specific people in mind when I constructed the scent pyramid.
Scorpio
Contrary to popular belief, Scorpio does not crave mystery - I speak from personal experience.
Scorpio craves depth, and yes, there is a difference.
Mystery can be manufactured, but depth cannot. That must be discovered.
Ardor belongs here because it unfolds slowly, but with a punch.
First there is smoke, resin, woods, amber, darkness....quite broody. Simply layered, but definitely not hidden.
Leo
The best Leos are not loud: they are radiant, full of energy, charisma and life.
A good Leo possesses gravity. People notice them because they possess presence rather than volume. Ardor understands and shares that distinction.
Warm without becoming overly cloying or sweet. Powerful without becoming obnoxious. Proud!
Aries
Aries lives through momentum, through instinct, through movement and energy.
Ardor provides enough warmth and confidence to keep pace without becoming reckless. It burns steadily rather than explosively - which may not completely accurately represent an Aries temper, but it certainly comes close.
Taurus (The Unexpected Guest)
Taurus might seem like an unusual inclusion.
Yet every Taurus I know appreciates sensuality more than symbolism: Cashmere, candlelight - Excellent food, of course - beautiful hotels. Just in general, slow and quiet luxury.
Ardor feels entirely at home in that world, however Aeris would be a very good alternative, Taurus are on the verge of both
Silva may be the most personal fragrance in the collection. Not because it is dramatic. Because it feels familiar, comforting, enduring - it was supposed to smell reminiscent of the beautiful verdant valley I grew up in. Damp, dark and gloomy half of the year, but never frightening, more like a cozy blanket.
It reminds me of forest paths, old books, cool stone, rain-soaked evergreens, and the sort of places that become more beautiful the longer one knows them.
The people who tend to gravitate toward Silva share a particular quality. They value permanence and solidarity.
Capricorn
The most luxurious people I know often have strong Capricorn energy.
Not flashy luxury, but durable and reliable luxury.
The sort of luxury that improves with age: the impeccably timeless and beautifully handmade bag you purchase once and that'll last you all of your live. That is Silva.
Capricorn understands craftsmanship. Silva rewards exactly that sort of appreciation, it resonates with the unassuming, but educated connaisseur.
Virgo
Virgo is frequently reduced to cleanliness, which is a tragic misunderstanding.
Virgo is really about refinement, precision and attention to detail.
Silva’s structure feels deeply Virgoan to me, as every note has such a purpose. So much so, that nothing about it feels accidental.
Cancer
Cancer seeks emotional safety, but not to retreat in a weak sense.
In a deeply human sense, as we all crave the safety of a cocoon if we were honest. That is Silva, she feels protective and deeply rooted.

Yet one element remains absent. Water. This is where things become complicated.
Not because I do not know what I want it to smell like. Quite the opposite.
Water may be the most personal fragrance I have attempted to create. My mother is a Pisces. My husband is a Pisces. Even my dog was a Pisces. I am a Scorpio. And in just a few short weeks, our family will be joined by a little Cancer.
Whether one believes in astrology or not is almost beside the point. At a symbolic level, water seems to surround me. Perhaps that is why I continue returning to it.
And abandoning it. And returning to it again.
The easiest thing in the world would be to create yet another aquatic fragrance. Sea salt. Marine accords. A blue bottle. Done. Think toned and tanned surfer bodies in the classic Davidoff Cool Water ads - timeless, fresh, non-offensive but bordering on the generic.
I have absolutely no interest in doing that. If Water eventually joins the Silvanité collection, it will need to feel deeper than that. More emotional. More intimate. More human. Like memory itself: ever-shifting, impossible to pin down and unfathomable depths coiling beneath the surface. My personal type of water os more Lovecraftian horror than it is sunny beaches.
Some fragrances arrive quickly. Others require patience.
This one belongs firmly in the latter category. For now. However, something is in the making....
Final Thoughts
The best fragrance is not the one your zodiac sign tells you to wear. It is the one that feels strangely familiar when you encounter it. The one that feels like an extension of your personality. The one that creates an atmosphere you want to inhabit.
Astrology provides a language. Fragrance provides a feeling.
And between those two things lies something wonderfully subjective. Basically, just do whatever the hell you want. Don't wear make up within your season, do not get your hair coloured to match your palette and please, do not take a stranger's unsolicited advice on how you should smell based on the heavily constellations at the time of your birth. It's fun to indulge in metaphysics, but please follow your whims.
